This gallery contains 14 photos.

Reportedly, Jen and Chris Martin just broke up and she drove by his house to collect her things. Don’t worry I’m not turning my blog into another one of those trashy make-up break-up websites (I haven’t caved yet!). A couple … Continue reading

Want to Fly in a Windowless Plane?

A British developer has come up with the concept of a windowless airplane and it is all set to take its first flight. The window is going to be replaced with full length screens that gives the passengers a view of what is going on the outside. The passenger has the option of simply shutting off the view, identifying prominent sights by tapping on the screen or browsing the internet!

Scientists and engineers at Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) called it “the windowless cabin with a view”. This could be a step in a whole new direction. Not only will the windowless plane be lighter but this in turn will also help conserve fuel.

You can now enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

The Apple Watch Makes its Debut in the Fashion World

We all witnessed the much hyped release of the Apple Watch. However Apple wants its latest gadget to be seen more than just that, Apple wants the watch to be viewed as a fashion accessory and Apple expected its watch to look so good that it even invited fashion editiors to the watch’s launch in September.

Now rumour has it that the watch will be on front page of China Vogue in November. Liu Wen who will be featured in the November issue will wear a limited edition 18 karat gold Apple Watch. This is a step in a whole new direction for Apple. Making an entry into the fashion world is none too easy. The future of technology lies in wearable products and therefore it is only right that Apple should make a foray into the fashion world but is this the right product to start with?

The editor-in-chief of China Vogue, Angelica Cheung was qouted saying the watches “combined technology, style, and functionality and were very modern”.

“Chinese people are actually very digitally minded and we embrace new technology and digital products more easily than perhaps people elsewhere, we are an ancient country but at the same time a very young country when it comes to fashion and new products. We love to embrace everything that is new, modern and positive, all these convince us that the intersection of fashion and technology is a natural progression, not something alien’, said Cheung.

It is prominent that Apple wants to position its product differently this time around. The base price for the watch starts at a stupendous $349 with it’s premium and limited edition models costing more. Do you think this pricing is justified? Would you rather pay for functionality that Apple offers over traditional watches?

Apple’s gadgets maybe making the front cover of international fashion magazines. But we know one person who definitely won’t be making it and that is their CEO Tim Cook. No one cared what you wore when you were the king of techy stuff but you’re now making an entry into a completely different world Mr.Cook.

Every time the Apple CEO gives a speech he’s dressed in an untucked barely ironed shirt. I know Mr. Cook is busy with innovating and has little time to care about what he wears but if you’re going to be the face of wearable fashion gadgets, shouldn’t you look the part? I think it’s time for a change.

The Apple Watch is all set to release in early 2015 and I for one definitely want to see the reaction it recieves. Do you have any insight on how this new tech gadget is going to change the world? Do let us know.

The Art of Luxury

What is luxury? Is luxury a product or is it a feeling that encompasses you?

The concept of luxury is not new to India, the Raja Maharajas have long been connoisseurs of luxury products from all over the world and in recent years we can see the Indian consumer embrace global luxury brands. While Hermes, Louis Vuitton and Gucci are the top scorers on this front, a lot of people from the upper middle class and top strata are embracing brands such as Bottega Venetta, Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Emporio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Fred Perry, Thomas Pink, etc. But the real question I want to address here is – what is luxury to the Indian consumer?

If you visit any luxury mall in India such as Palladium in Mumbai or DLF Emporio in New Delhi you get to see a breed of young and mobile Indians wearing an Armani or Prada suit, flashing Rolex or Tag Heuer watches, proudly flaunting their latest Jimmy Choo shoes as they hurriedly walk past you, leaving an intoxicating whiff of the latest perfume; still their Gucci or Louis Vuitton bags dangling leisurely over their shoulders may keep you under captivation for a while.

Luxury for me, for the most part lies in the uniqueness of a product. The same Louis Vuitton bag with the same monogrammed print being carried by over 100 people is not luxury. Another recent fad that seems to have taken over the Indian consumer is Michael Kors. The measure of luxury lies simply in the cost of the product and the not the value it provides to the user. Luxury has become a blatant display of wealth.

I don’t deny the fact that carrying premium brands give you the feeling of an aura of exclusivity but luxury lies more in discreteness than it does in, in your face commodities. It’s in the craftmanship of the product. The feeling of holding something eccentric, something unlike anything else.

10 Things to do Before I Die

We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. – T.S. Elliot.

To be born is not enough. You must learn to live. Have an insatiable yearning that makes you drive forth with passion. To feel inspired is the greatest joy. So here is my bucketlist of not the ten things ‘I want to’ do before I die but the 10 things ‘I absolutely have to’ do before I die.

  1. I want to travel far and wide, meet people from over the world, have friends in different places. Explore sceneries from an era gone by.
  2. Build my own company from scratch. Not just any company, build a brand that will be imprinted in people’s minds for years to come. I want to build a legacy.
  3. Finally start and finish writing my own book even if it never gets published, to write it would be enough. (I’ve started quite a few projects which I’ve lost over the years or simply just lost interest in.)
  4. Sky dive or bungee jump or base jump. Basically just jump off any height. I seek the adrenaline rush and adventure.
  5. Learn to fly an aeroplane. I’m not saying I want to be a commercial pilot, all I’m saying is I can’t wait for the day of my first solo landing and get my private pilot’s license. I feel like I was born to fly, too bad I didn’t take it up as a profession.
  6. I never want to stop learning. I want to learn a new language, maybe two more or maybe ten. Get an Mba or a PhD. Learn to fly. Basically whatever it takes.
  7. Build a home with a poolside gazebo although this wish might never be fulfilled considering I live in Mumbai city but I can always get a holiday home!
  8. To be fit and run atleast one complete marathon (I know I can start training for this right away if I just get off my lazy ass.)
  9. Learn to play the drums or the guitar or both. This is quite simple and yet unaccomplished. Maybe soon.
  10. Go on a road trip across Europe with my friends, cruising down the roads in a convertible. (For some reason I’ve always imagined myself in a convertible so now it’s become an integral part of this plan.)

I know in the next ten years or so when I look back at this list I will be able to strike off atleast a few of these things and add a few more. I hope my list makes you feel this incredible urge to get up and do something because that’s how I felt while writing it. I don’t wish to be great, I wish to do great things.

Travel. Live. Love. Laugh.

13 Year Old Takes the Runway: Rose Taylor

This 13 year old has already accomplished more than most of us could dream of. Rose Taylor the creator of Isabelle Rose debuted at New York Fashion Week this year. Rose Taylor is obviously not your average 13 year old. She graduated high school at just 11 years old and is also a part of Mensa. Her junior collection just got picked for showcasing exculsively on Nordstrom.

“From a young age, my parents always encouraged me to follow my dreams”, said Taylor, “They told me I didn’t have to wait to be older to be my own boss and do what I love”. She took up sewing at the age of 8 and got completely fascinated with its artistic nature.

Her clothing line for the fashion week consisted of chic ready to wear designs and showcased comfy sweaters. “I’m so excited, the adrenaline is pumping. It was amazing.” She said backstage after the show.

“Isabella, you’re my inspiration to achieve my dreams” quoted a young fan. Isabella is a role model for many and is an example of how you can attain anything you set your mind to no matter what the time and age.

Live A Thousand Lives

A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one. – George R. R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons

I have lived the life of a struggling artist, a painter, a serial killer, a doctor, a lover, but of all of them I love this life the most. Coming home to a book is one of the best feelings in the world. Have you ever a read book so compelling, you feel the world will never be the same unless every human has felt its brilliance? I feel this way all the time. I want the world to know what I know. To feel what I have already felt. To read and fall in love again. I am a dreamer, a traveller, I feel nothing is impossible. Reading for me leads to self actulization. I have been on a thousand journeys and want you to experience the same.

So here is a list of some of the most compelling books I have ever read and I couldn’t resist but share:

  1. The God Father by Mario Puzo (If you haven’t already read this one please just drop everything you’re doing and go get it now!)
  2. The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni
  3. The Great Gatsby by Scott Fitzgerald
  4. Tell Me Your Dreams by Sydney Sheldon
  5. Angels and Demons and Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
  6. Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling (An absolute favourite specifically the Goblet of Fire.)
  7. Kane and Abel and Sons of Fortune by Jeffrey Archer
  8. The First Billion by Christopher Reich
  9. The Kite Runner and a Thousand Splendid Sons by Khaled Hosseini
  10. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
  11. The Faraway Tree and Malory Towers by Enid Blyton (My treasured childhood books.)

If you’re an avid reader please post your favourite’s in the comments below.

A Blast From The Past, VMA’s 1998

Since it’s the month of the VMA’s and everyone who is anyone cannot stop talking about Amber Rose and her outfit I thought I’d do a peice on Rose McGowan (who’s look Amber Rose totally ripped off btw) and Marilyn Manson. If there was an award for the all time worst dressed couple, it would go to them. I know it was the 90’s and people wore all sorts of baloney back then but this is unbelievable.

Normally I don’t indulge myself in this kind of derogatory talk, specially when more than a decade’s gone by but this couple definitely deserves my attention. McGowan wore practically nothing. Actually scratch off practically. She wore nothing. Amber Rose looks like a nun compared to her. The mass of chains not only doesn’t do much to cover up her ‘ass’ets and can barely be called an outfit but also is completely trashy. And don’t even get me started on Marilyn Manson. Who wears a mutli-coloured leopard print suit and then dyes their hair to match the fur on the lapel! Even his chunky black boots are a complete mistmatch for this macabre of a suit.

Am I being completely unfair? Or are their looks overwhelmingly unbearable?
