An Ode to Oscar

Oscar de la Renta, how genuine his desire was to beautify women. He dressed a large number of celebrities from the Presidents wives to Oprah Winfrey and oh, how he did it! Oscar de le Renta passed away at 82 after battling a long illness but he will forever be remembered for his work, creativity, passions and legacy. As an ode to Mr. Oscar de la Renta I’ve curated pictures of some of his most stunning outfits and the women who’ve worn them.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Oscar de le Renta. She was qouted saying that she herself asked the designer to have his name stiched on the gown. He was way too modest to do it by himself.

Emma Watson wore this gorgeous grey corset gown to the premiere of the last Harry Potter movie, it was around this time she achieved her status as a fashionista and I have to admit she looks absolutely gorgeous.

It is no secret that Oscar de la Renta openly criticised Michell Obama’s wardrobe which surprisingly enough didn’t include a single piece by the legend. It is a well known fact that Oscar de la Renta made it his job to dress the former first ladies. However he and Michelle Obama had an ongoing feud for the last seven years which ended two weeks ago when Michelle Obama adorned this stunning piece by the late designer.

Blake Lively is literally synonymous with fashion. We all know, no one dresses better than her and I for one am a huge fan of the starlet. She’s adorned pieces by Oscar de la Renta on several occassions but this is one of my favourites.

Amy Adams attended the 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in an Oscar de la Renta gown. This is definitely one of the most amazing outfits I have ever seen and she carries it which such grace and poise. The slinky mettalic outfit is a definite party-starter.

Another fashion icon who is a fan of the designer, Taylor Swift, sported Oscar de la Renta outfits on several occassions. Here she look absolutely charming as she shows off the long trail of this outfit.

We all know Penelope Cruz would look good in anything but she looks especially beautiful in this black and white brocade gown at the 2007 Bafta’s. This one outfit was definitely made for the red carpet.

Oscar de la Renta’s death is a great loss to the fashion world. He wanted to make women look beautiful and has inspired many, may he rest in peace.
